Opting for TR1 or TR2 equipment group gets your a leather interior based on the 1500 Limited, and come with heated and ventilated seats. Inside, the 1500 TRX gets an interior based on the Rebel, with cloth and vinyl accents with black and red surfaces. These modes, meant for high-performance all-terrain driving control the same systems as the pervious modes to extract the most capability from the truck in any give situation. There are also three separate "dynamic off-road" modes: Mud/Sand, Rock and Baja. The modes changes things like the 4WD system, throttle responds, gear changes, suspension settings, and power steering. The 1500 TRX has five on-road drive modes: Auto, Sport, Tow, Snow and Custom, allowing drivers to configure the truck's adjustable attributes to best tackle whatever job it needs to. ![]() Out back, single-piston calipers clamp 15-inch vented rotors. ![]() The TRX's brake setup consists of two-piston monoblock calipers up front, stopping 15-inch inverted-hat vented rotors. A high-strength, lightweight rock shield defends the piston rod against incoming rubble with a custom molded escape path for debris. Ram TRX uses stainless steel braided high-pressure hose to combat corrosion and abrasion while being able to resist up to 5,800 PSI. Here's how they work, according to FCA's press release: Dual Electronic Proportional Valves continuously adjust damping forces for precise, independent control of compression and rebound damping. The shocks are specially developed 2.5-inch "Black Hawk e2" Bilstein adaptive units. The 1500's suspension has been totally overhauled for the TRX, with an independent front setup with forged aluminum control arms, and a Dana 60 solid axle out back. The front fascia has also been updated, and includes a hood scoop with integrated marker lights and a hollowed-out RAM badge to improve airflow. Much of these increases are due to composite fender flares that cover the 325-mm-wide, 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler tires. The body itself is two inches taller and eight inches wider, with a six-inch wider track. The TRX uses an entirely different frame versus the normal Ram 1500, with thicker high-strength steel that uses "low-torsion attributes to increase durability and stability." There are also fully boxed side rails and hydroformed sections, reducing the need for welding. Ram says the truck will be able to sprint to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, 100 mph in 10.5 seconds, and hit the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph when using the built-in launch control. ![]() ![]() Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission and a full-time active transfer case with upgraded internals. The airbox sits above the engine so as not to be affected by heavy vibrations, while the oil pan and alternator have been swapped out for new units to improve wading depth to 32 inches. This is mainly due to the truck's specific heavy-duty air intake filter. It's rated from the factory at 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, making it the least powerful Hellcat-powered vehicle from the factory. This is the first time the engine has been paired to a Ram product. Under the hood of the TRX sits FCA's familiar 6.2-liter supercharged V-8, also used in cars like the Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Durango Hellcats, as well as the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and the Dodge Demon. Meet the Hellcat-powered 702-hp Ram 1500 TRX. Sure Chevy, Ram, GMC, Toyota, and even Nissan will sell you off-road packages with skid plates and locking diffs, but nobody has gone as all-in as Ford's desert-running, 450-hp, wide-body monster. The Ford F-150 Raptor has been around for a decade without a real competitor.
